Anonymous Rose Petal Sorbet

I have had this recipe taped to my refrigerator for the past two years which I received at a gourmet pot luck party I attended. I do not know who made this so cannot thank that person nor attribute to him … It is a remarkable dessert, you only need a tiny portion to be satisfied since it is so full of taste and fragrance!

Ready

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup organic rose petals
  • ½ cup almonds, skinless (slivered almonds work well)
  • 3 drops natural red food coloring

Set

  • Heavy sauce pan
  • Measuring cup - liquid and solid
  • Blender
  • Cheesecloth
  • Ice cream machine

Go

  1. In a heavy sauce pan, heat milk, sugar, and rose petals over medium-low heat until almost boiling. Let cool for a few minutes, then puree in a blender with the almonds.
  2. Strain mixture through layers of cheesecloth (or cotton cloth) to remove almond.
  3. Add food coloring.
  4. Chill thoroughly and process in an ice cream maker following the manufacturer’s instructions
