Easy Peasy Chocolate Chip Cookies

My name is Eliza. I am 11 years old going on 12. I made these cookies at my school, and they were really, really, really yummy! And guess what? They’re really easy to make too! Hence the name: Easy Peasy Chocolate Chip Cookies! (Please bear in mind that you don’t have to use chocolate chips. You could use anything, or nothing at all, for your filling!)

So Here it is…

Ready

  • 150 grams self-raising flour
  • 150 grams chocolate chips (optional)
  • 75 grams brown sugar (caster sugar will work too, but not as well)
  • 75 grams butter/margarine (extras needed for greasing baking tray)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 drops vanilla extract

Set

  • wooden/plastic spoon
  • whisk (metal fork will do)
  • fish slice (spatula or palette knife will do)
  • greasing brush
  • baking tray
  • cooling tray
  • 2 mixing bowls
  • teaspoon

Go

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Put sugar and butter/ margarine into bowl. Cream until light and fluffy with a wooden spoon.
  3. Crack an egg in a separate mixing bowl and add 2 drops of vanilla extract and beat together with whisk or wooden spoon.
  4. Pour the whisked egg and vanilla into the creamed sugar and butter/margarine mixture. Mix with wooden spoon.
  5. Stir in the self-raising flour, adding chocolate chips (optional) as you go. Fold in the flour until you cannot see any more of it.
  6. Grease a baking tray with extra butter/margarine.
  7. Add heaped teaspoonfuls of mixture to the baking tray. Make sure to spread apart so that the cookies don’t stick together in the oven (they WILL expand).
  8. Place tray in preheated oven and bake for about 15 minutes (depending on how soft you want them. 15 minutes being the softest, and about 25 minutes for the hardest).
  9. Take out of oven and place on cooling tray using palette knife/fish slice/spatula and wait for about five minutes to cool.
  10. EAT!

What you should know

I am the author of the recipe. Please note that when I said you could whisk with a wooden spoon, I really meant fork! Sorry! :-(
