What people are shouting
Trying a chimichurri sauce with a grilled skirt steak tonight. I am excited. Plenty of chili I think.
So Eric, what a tease you are. You tell us your brownies with genache topping were the hit of the party and yet you haven’t shared the recipe with us at GreatGrub. I am reduced, therefore, to using my imagination to consider just how good they really are!
Yesterday I bake my famous brownies with genache topping for a dinner party at my friend Josie, as usual they were the hit of the party. Today I’m cooking chicken & veg. with David sweet chili sauce, an other fabulous dish (thank you David)
I hit the Farmers’ Market Saturday morning with Lucy, my 18-month daughter. I was drawn to the blood oranges, their ferocious red flesh so enticing. I came away with a 16oz jar of blood orange marmalade which I smothered over my toast this morning. It is nectar. It is neither too sweet not too bitter and is a perfect consistency. What a find. This will be my breakfast for the foreseeable future.
I find Mother’s Day lunch is usually a pretty poor experience from the customer’s end too. In the UK Mother’s Day is at the end of March. Last year we went to a local pub that usually does a decent meal at a reasonable price. That day however it was absolutely awful. The service was slow, the order came up in dribs and drabs, some of the food was inedible and the rest was just barely passable. My advice: don’t go out for Mother’s Day, cook for your mum instead.
Why is it that after every Mother’s Day I want to quit the business,,,?? :>) Don’t worry…I am still smiling but this was a ruff day…I am literally covered in bloody mary and fresh squeezed orange juice!! When I have my own restaurant I will celebrate Mother’s Day 3 days so everyone doesn’t HAVE to come on the same day! Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms on GreatGrub!!
Just returned from a night out with my girl. Ribs at Mr Cecils to start followed by a movie. Saw “Waitress”. Chick flick really, but I enjoyed it enormously. In fact, my favourite film of the year so far. Lots of close ups of awesome looking pies, and voice-overs poetically describing the ingredients. A must for food lovers, girls and, I suppose, some men.
Tea and cake on a Sunday afternoon followed by a nap. Life’s good.
Put some cheese on your bread and some fruit on your ice cream and call it a meal. Sounds good to me!
i ate too much bread and ice cream during last week. this is because i’m overstressed with dozen of deadlines. well, actually, i don’t really care about eating ice cream too much, but sometimes, my deadlines also make me forget my meal. that’s bad.
