Dizzy Blonde Cocktail

You may have noticed that there is never a shortage of dizzy blondes in Hollywood. You will find them splashed on the covers of newspapers, scandal rags and even on occasion, on a highbrow website. So here’s the dizzy blonde drink that pays homage to the sassy girls and boys of Hollywood who keep us entertained with their antics and help keep the news mongers in business.

And in a fun contradiction, the real name of advocaat is “advocaatenborrel” — the Dutch meaning of advocate’s or lawyer’s drink. Who knew. I guess one hand feeds the other.

Ready

  • 2 oz advocaat liqueur
  • 1 oz Pernod
  • 2 oz lemon/lime soda (i.e., 7-up)
  • Cracked ice
  • Cherry and straw for garnish

Set

  • Wine glass or 10 oz. High-ball glass

Go

  1. Fill glass half full with ice.
  2. Add Pernod and Advocatt.
  3. Top with soda or lemonade.
  4. Garnish with cherry and stir with straw.

What you should know

Some people also add about 2 oz of orange juice.

Advocaat is a creamy vivid yellow liqueur made from eggs, sugar and brandy. It has a smooth taste with a hint of almond.
