Belmont Breeze Cocktail

This has been the drink of the Belmont Stakes since 1998 and is credited to Dale DeGroff. The traditional drink was the White Carnation.

Ready

  • 1 ½ oz. Seagrams 7 whiskey
  • ¾ oz. Harveys Bristol Cream Sherry
  • ½ oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1 oz. Simple Syrup
  • 1 ½ oz. Fresh Orange juice
  • 1 ½ oz. Cranberry juice
  • 1 oz. of soda
  • 1 oz. of lemon/lime soda (i.e, 7up)
  • 1 fresh strawberry (garnish)
  • 1 lemon wedge (garnish)
  • 1 mint sprig (garnish)

Set

  • Shaker
  • Collins glass

Go

  1. Shake first 6 ingredients with ice.
  2. Top with half 7up and half soda, approximately one ounce of each.
  3. Garnish with fresh strawberry, a mint sprig, and a lemon wedge.

This one’s too complicated for me to make at home, but I want to start ordering this one at fancy Hotel bars, make them work a little bit! Great sounding drink.
